Polychromatic Flow Cytometry

The course consists of a theoretical and practical session. The theory session is designed to first help you to understand fundamental principles of flow cytometry. Afterwards, general considerations concerning multicolor FACS panel design will be introduced including antibody to fluorochrome pairing, optimization and essential controls. This is followed by introduction into advanced strategies to maximize the output of your flow cytometry device. Based on the learned principles you will then design a ~ 8 color FACS panel in groups to characterize cell populations in human blood. This FACS panel will then be tested in the practical session the following day, followed by trouble-shooting.
Overall the course will guide you towards rational multicolor FACS panel design.
