Die Sektion Experimentelle Chirurgie, Klinik für Allgemein-, Viszeral-, Thorax-, Transplantations- und Kinderchirurgie, Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen, Mitglied des Deutschen Lungenzentrums (DZL) und des Excellence Cluster Cardio-Pulmonary Institute (CPI), bietet ab Januar 2021 die Möglichkeit zur
Promotion (PhD, Dr. hom. biol.)
mit Förderung durch ein Stipendium finanziert durch das DZL, befristet auf 3 Jahre.
Projekt
Die Doktorandin/ der Doktorand (m/w/d) untersucht im Rahmen eines kooperativen Projekts im DZL experimentell den Ischämie-/Reperfusionsschaden (IRI) in der Lunge, der im Zusammenhang der Lungentransplantation unvermeidlich ist. Das Ausmaß des IRI beeinflusst wesentlich den langfristigen Erfolg oder Misserfolg von Lungentransplantationen. Ziele der Untersuchungen sind einerseits ein besseres Verständnis der Pathogenese des IRI und andererseits die Entwicklung neuer therapeutischer Strategien, die von hohem klinischen Interesse sind.
Qualifikationsprofil
- Abgeschlossenes Hochschulstudium in einem biomedizinischen Fach (z.B. Biologie, Medizin, Veterinärmedizin)
von Vorteil sind Kenntnisse und Erfahrung in folgenden Bereichen:
- Immunologie
- Zellkultur und Zellaufreinigung
- Durchflusszytometrie
- Tierexperimentelles Arbeiten
- Histopathologie und Immunhistologie
- Proteinbiochemie
- PCR

Project
In the frame of a cooperative project within the DZL, the student (m/f/d) will investigate experimental ischemia/reperfusion injury (IRI) of the lung. IRI inevitably damages pulmonary transplants and the extend of IRI is an important determinant of graft outcome in the long-term. The project aims at a better understanding of the pathogenesis of pulmonary IRI and at the development of novel therapeutic strategies that are of high clinical relevance.
Your Qualification
- University-level qualification in the field of medical or biological sciences (e.g. biology, human or veterinary medicine)
Knowledge in the following fields is advantageous but not mandatory:
- Immunology
- Cell culture and cell isolation
- Flow cytometry
- Research in small rodents
- Histopathology and immunohistochemistry
- Protein biochemistry
- PCR
